Biography
Mr. Sharad Devarajan is a media entrepreneur and producer. He was previously the Co-Founder, CEO & Publisher of Virgin Comics LLC and Virgin Animation Pvt. Ltd, a set of companies he and his partners originally co-founded in 2005, with Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, author Deepak Chopra and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. In 2008, Mr. Devarajan and his partners completed a management buyout of Virgin Comics and renamed the Company, Liquid Comics. Mr. Devarajan currently oversees all aspects of the Liquid's business and operations. He is also a Producer / Executive Producer on a number of theatrical live-action film and television projects in development.

Prior to Liquid, Mr. Devarajan was Co-Founder & CEO of Gotham Entertainment Group, which was a leading South Asian youth magazine publisher that launched the Indian publishing activities for DC Comics, Marvel Comics and Cartoon Network. In 2004, Mr. Devarajan worked with Marvel to reinvent Spider-Man as an Indian boy growing up in Mumbai. Unlike traditional translations of western characters into foreign markets, the new series, "Spider-Man: India" was heralded as one of the industry's first "trans-creations."

For his activities, Mr. Devarajan was featured as CNNfn's 'Maverick in The Morning' and covered in numerous media including The Wall Street Journal, Businessweek, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Fox News and NPR's Fresh Air. Mr. Devarajan has served as a speaker at various events including, Fortune Magazine’s Global Forum in New Delhi, Duke University’s Fuqua School, Time Warner’s A-3 Pop Culture Panel, South Asians in Media and Marketing (SAMMA), FICCI Frames and Harvard Business School.

He holds a BFA from Syracuse University and an MBA from Columbia University where he is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School teaching, Media Marketing and Entrepreneurship, as well as, Transmedia & Transcreation: How technology and Globalization are transforming Media.
